Por fell last Thursday and initially they thought she may have broken her hip. But luckily, no broken bones! Whew. Then I had a scare and thought it may have been something to do with my heart, And luckily all the tests came back normal, double whew. And luckily I work with a heart expert and he had connections. But the waiting for the tests and the results really make you think. About life..and how brave my Mom was. And I remember how she handled her diagnosis and her treatments with dignity and positivity. Never with regrets nor bitterness. Tho the only thing I worried about was my Dad and who was going to take care of him? But now I don't have to think about it, hopefully not for a while! Triple whew!!

I finally visited Europe and my first choice of country was Italy. Of course, food and shopping! And it didn't disappoint. Figures that my Mom went years ago with Nancy. She was a world traveler! I went to Taormina, a small seaside resort in Sicily. Bought a godfather t-shirt for Dad! On the way to the hotel, the driver was recommending restaurants and then burst out saying "Mamma Mia". Cracked me up cos I didn't realize people still use that phrase! A couple of pictures below show the terrace off my room and the view was spectacular!
Then it was off to Rome and I saw the usual - the Vatican, Spanish Steps, Coliseum, Trevi Fountain and Pantheon. My Dad wouldn't have liked it - too much walking. A bonus at the end of my trip, I was bumped to business class! I felt so guilty and almost confessed to the flight attendant that I didn't really belong there. Damn, they go all out and pamper you. No wonder people are willing to pay triple or more for it. Maybe one day......... It was a beautiful day. Dad and I went to visit Por first and then Mom at the cemetery. Swapped out some flowers at her grave, She still has such a huge presence in our lives. It was nice quiet day remembering.
