It was easy, lime, mint, soda water, sugar and white rum. It was so yummy! Life is all good and fuzzy when you have mojitos! Man, I feel like I've missed out all these years of not drinking so I have to make up for it.
Ever since going to an all-inclusive resort in Cancun last August and drinking heavily (for me, more than 1 drink is alot), mojitos are my choice of alcoholic beverage. So this past Saturday, I was dealing with some uncertainties and just felt like I needed a DRINK! So I texted my friends to see if they were game for making our own and of course they were!

Dad went to see his PCP yesterday and his blood pressure has lowered! So is it a coincidence it's gotten lower since he started wearing his brand new fitbit provided by his loving daughter? Hahaha.....I'm not even sure what it does? And how it's supposed to help? But whatever. It seems like everyone has jumped on the fitbit bandwagon. I should check to see if he is still wearing it.
Dad is busy with all of the Chinese New Year's festivities. An association's dinner almost every night! Again, his social life puts mine to shame. I can't keep up with him! Not complaining, as long as he's keeping busy and enjoying life! When my Dad went to China last year, a Chinese doctor told him he needed to walk at least 10,000 steps every day! I'm thinking he probably averages about 100 steps daily? Everyone at work is wearing a fitbit so I thought I'd get one for Dad. It monitors the # of steps you take as well as your sleep. Tho I don't think he has any problems sleeping.
When I told him about it, he seemed excited. Or at least open to the idea that he can put away his Rolex cos the fitbit has the time on it. I know....fitbit or Rolex? Hey, we want him healthy and active and maybe this will motivate him? I'll keep y'all posted on his progress. Chances are he'll lose it or the charger! I don't have much faith in him but at least we're going to give it a shot! So I brought over oranges, tangerines with the leaves, and the new years pastries for Por Por in preparation for CNY. And with her short term memory, you already know what questions she is going to repeatedly ask:
"Are you with someone? Is Norm with someone? Is your Dad with someone? Where is Alex? Is he married? He is probably waiting for you! Where do you work? Where do you live? By yourself? Your Dad should not get married again. He has a daughter and a son to take care of him. And he has no money to take care of anyone else." So today she asked me if one of my Mom's oldest friend, Betty is married. I said no and she said my Dad should marry her!! I'm like what did she just say? Where did she get that from? I don't even remember the last time she spoke about Betty. She can still surprise me. Wait until I tell my Dad? Does anyone believe in fate anymore? That things happen for a reason? People you thought you would never meet again and yet a random chance meeting some place where you both weren't supposed to be? Fate? How can you explain it away? Can I blame it on my mom as always? Life works in funny ways and opportunities come up at the weirdest time. So I'm just going to go with it and see where it leads to.
Already this year is starting off with a bang and looking forward to the future. No more looking back. And as someone keeps telling me, I need to make the next 50 years of my life way better than the last 50. I think Mom would approve. :) |
